Chiropractors

The doctors of chiropractic at the Chiropractic Care and Longevity Center have been freeing people from pain in Perth, Ontario, Canada for over 18 years. As Chiropractors with experience, they are committed to promoting optimal health and well being of patients. They use a "whole person approach". This approach to wellness means looking for underlying causes of any disturbance or disruption (which may or may not be causing symptoms at the time) and make whatever interventions and lifestyle adjustments that would optimize the conditions for normal function. Using this unique approach, the doctors are able to help you to accelerate and/or maintain your journey to good health.

Dr. Kathy Wickens, B.Sc.(Hon), D.C. Wellness Advisor

Dr. Kathy Wickens is a licensed Chiropractor who earned her Honors Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Ottawa, Certificate of Business Administrative from the University of Ottawa and her Doctorate from Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College of Canada which is one of the best academic chiropractic colleges in the world.

 

After graduating from the University of Ottawa, Dr. Wickens worked in the Federal Government for ten years.  When she personally discovered the benefits of Chiropractic, she returned to school for an additional four years to get her Doctorate in Chiropractic.

 

She is the owner of the Chiropractic Care and Longevity Center located in Perth, Ontario.

 

Her background is extensive.  She believes in a well-rounded common sense approach utilizing the latest scientific advancements in health care in order to achieve optimal health and to correct the underlying cause of any specific conditions.  Dr. Wickens also believes patients must be informed and take an active role in their health. Over the past nineteen years Dr. Wickens has lectured to thousands in an attempt to educate the public regarding chiropractic, nutrition, exercise, wellness etc.

 

Dr. Wickens has taken thousands of hours of continuing education involving chiropractic, physical training, orthotics, gait analysis, compression stockings, addiction, supplements, homeopathy, radiology courses, lifestyle management, C.A.T.S. (Cranial Adjusting Turner Style).  She is constantly honing her skills to keep up with the latest technology and to keep abreast of the most up to date scientific research.

 

Dr. Wickens is actively involved in her community as a volunteer as well as in a philanthropic role.  In addition she volunteers her time with the Ontario Chiropractic Association.  When she is not involved with her two daughters, grandchildren and her extended family; of her eleven brothers and sisters, she spends her time skiing, traveling, swimming, reading and cooking.

 

Dr. Wickens firmly believes that we should all strive for quality of life. She enjoys assisting patients in making lifestyles changes towards this goal.

Dr. Karim Guirguis, B.Sc., D.C. 

Dr. Guirguis is a licensed chiropractor who earned his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Ottawa, and his Doctorate from New York Chiropractic College.

After graduating, he practiced for several years in Westminster, Vermont, where he gained valuable experience working in a health care model which involved collaboration between professionals of several health care disciplines, including medical doctors, naturopaths, physiotherapists and psychotherapists.

After leaving Vermont, Dr. Guirguis moved to Ottawa, where he currently practices at the Sunrise Health Centre and at the Chiropractic Care and Longevity Clinic in Perth.

He was recently involved in a two year government funded study of chiropractic care at the Carlington Community Health Centre in Ottawa. During those two years, he treated patients and evaluated their response to chiropractic treatments in collaboration with several medical doctors and nurse practitioners. Once the study was completed, the results demonstrated the effectiveness of chiropractic treatments to patients with nerve, joint, and muscle pain.

Dr. Guirguis currently resides in Ottawa with his wife, one very active toddler and another one on the way. In his spare time, he enjoys playing sports, especially soccer, skiing and tennis, as well as traveling and spending time with family and friends.

He is fluent in English, French and Arabic.

Dr. Ashleah Linden B.HSc.,D.C.

Dr. Ashleah Linden is a licensed chiropractor who earned her Bachelor of Health Sciences degree from the University of Western Ontario in 2003, and her doctorate from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in 2008.

 

Dr. Linden began her professional life practicing in a multidisciplinary clinic in British Columbia. It was there that she gained valuable experience working with other health care practitioners to provide well-rounded, comprehensive care for patients. After enjoying several years in the mountains, Dr. Linden decided to return to her hometown to practice in Perth.

 

At the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College Dr. Linden completed research namely in studying the vertebral arteries on MRI and identifying congenital anomalies. This study was published in the March/April, 2010 edition Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapies (JMPT). Dr. Linden believes that through this type of research, the Chiropractic profession can stay current and provide the best possible patient care.

 

Dr. Linden lives in Perth with her partner David. They both enjoy spending time in the community, and are eager to engage in further community activities. She enjoys outdoor activities including walking, running and boating and is looking forward to meeting and working with new patients.

 


Registered Massage Therapy

Beth Fequet, RMT

Beth has been a registered massage therapist since 2004. She is a graduate of Kine Concept Ontario’s 2500 hour massage therapy program. She is an active member of the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario and the Ontario Massage Therapists Association. Dedicated to lifelong learning, she has complemented her practice with training in Geriatric Massage, Palliative Care, Integrated Lymph Drainage, Breast Massage, Thermal Palms® Massage, Aquatic Massage Therapy and Reiki. She provides a professional, gentle, healing touch that is tailored to meet your needs.  She believes massage therapy is an excellent way to facilitate the body’s natural healing process.

Beth encourages each client to participate in this process to help them reach their health care goals. Sessions are augmented with client education on self care such as postural awareness, hydrotherapy and remedial exercise.

Jen Balfour B.A.,RMT.

 

After graduating from Kine Concept-Ottawa in 2007,

Jen spent four years at a Medical Spa in Kanata. Her clientele there ranged from students and IT managers to professional athletes and musicians.

 

Her integrative bodywork combines Swedish Massage with Myofascial and deep tissue work and Craniosacral therapy.

 

Jen believes that massage therapy is one of the many paths to restoring health and wellness to the body and is very happy to be joining the Chiropractic Care and Longevity Center team.

 

Jen has lived in the area for 12 years and enjoys skiing, horseback riding, and practicing yoga. She shares her home with her husband, 3 sons and a variety of pets.

Annette Gray-Jackson, RMT, B.A.

Annette has recently graduated from a 2 year accelerated Massage Therapy program and is a member of the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario.  

After staying home with her 3 children Annette returned to school for her new career.  As a lifelong resident of Mountain Grove, Annette is looking forward to seeing both familiar and new faces, and is looking forward in assisting you with your personal wellness goals.

Barb Willoughby Esthetician/ Electrologists

Barb has been a certified Electrologist since 1987.  Barb is also certified in Esthetics and is a certified Nail Technician.  Barb has been working full time in a salon/spa setting for 25 years.

Barb attends trade shows yearly and goes to workshops frequently to upgrade her skills.  She has obtained 11 different workshop certificates in gel nails.  She has fun with what she does and loves her career.

Ashley Finnigan, Office Director

Ashley has been a member of the office since 2001.  She resides in Smiths Falls with her husband Cory and 2 children, Carter and Mallory.  She has a great love for animals (4 dogs and 3 cats) and enjoys family time on the lake, and taking holiday trips.  In the office, she coordinates everything to ensure that work goes harmoniously for everyone.

Hanna Murphy, Certified Fitness Trainer 

Hanna has been a part of the Chiropractic Care and Longevity Center team for more than five years.  She has always shown great interest in health and wellness and has found working at the Center as a Chiropractic Assistant very educational throughout the years. She works hard on continuing to educate herself in wellness, as you’ll notice the staff frequently attend educational seminars.  In 2007 Hanna, completed the Registered Nutritional Supplement Advisor course through the Alive Academy, also in 2007 she completed a course on orthotics from The Orthotic Group.  Every month Hanna researches anything & everything new about health and wellness and puts together a monthly Chiropractic newsletter for the office.  To continue her interest of physical health and wellness at home Hanna aka Semi Precious, is a founding member of the The Rideau Valley Roller Girls, a roller derby league in Ottawa. Hanna resides in Perth with her beloved cat Pat.

    Trish Larochelle

Trish Larochelle has just joined our team after working in the hospitality industry for 18 years. She lives in Smiths Falls with her cat and spends her extra time with her family, cooking, travelling and attending self-help seminars.
